I am an HCPC registered Occupational Therapist & Advanced Sensory Integration Practitioner, experienced in working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
I specialise in working with children & young people with neurodevelopmental conditions including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Dyspraxia/ Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD).
Occupational Therapy (OT) focuses on helping someone to join in with everyday activities that are important to them. Occupational Therapist's (OT's) work in lots of different places, helping people in lots of different ways.
I support children and young people to be able to do all the things that are important to them, making it easier to learn, play and socialise. I am really passionate about working with children & teenagers where behaviours of concern are impacting upon everyday activities.
When I work in schools and colleges, I work closely with the education staff to provide practical strategies which can be used outside of OT sessions, helping the child/ teenager join in to their fullest!
Sensory Integration (SI) supports individuals with sensory based challenges which are impacting upon everyday activities. Sensory Integration intervention/ therapy involves structured exposure to sensory input, movement therapy, balance treatments and physical activities.
I provide Sensory Integration based intervention, where an underlying sensory need may be impacting upon everyday activities. I support children with sensory modulation challenges (being under or over responsive to sensory stimuli) and dyspraxia (difficulties with motor planning & execution, impacting upon coordination).
